Fairmont Ford

The Fairmont was equipped with power-assisted brakes. Front discs were 10.0 inches in diameter, while rear drums were 9.0 x 1.8 inches. The steering system was 3.2 turns lock-to-lock. Ford's 'Fox' project had already begun, and Halderman later said she regrets letting Sperlich go. Chrysler decided to follow Sperlich's lead, but Ford foolishly let him go.

The Fairmont Ford dealership has a rich history in the community. In fact, the dealership is the fourth-oldest Ford dealership in the country. The Kloeckner family has been working at the dealership since 1927. Claus Kloeckner immigrated to America from Germany in 1927 and eventually became the General Manager and one of the owners of Park Motors. The dealership took its name from the Park Street location, because previous owners couldn't spell the Kloeckner name.

The Fairmont was Ford's first rear-wheel-drive car platform, and shared underpinnings with the Falcon and Lincoln-Mercury model lines. The Ford Fox platform was used by both Ford and Lincoln-Mercury for two decades, and the Fairmont was no exception. It was produced until the 2004 model year. The Fairmont came in four body styles: two-door sedan, five-door wagon, and a two-door coupe.

The Fairmont Ford was first introduced in August 1977 as a 1978 model. It was the successor of the Ford Maverick. It was Ford's first compact sedan, and it was produced in both sedan and wagon body styles. It was a step up from the Falcon XP, and featured higher standard equipment than the Falcon. It featured a 200 cubic-inch 3.3-litre six-cylinder engine. The Fairmont went through several incarnations in its lifetime. In recent years, it has been aligned with the Falcon series, but has a more luxurious interior and different features than other Ford models.
